Which Athens pass is worth it, and when none is
You want to see as much as possible in two to four days? The Athens City Pass is the broadest package: Acropolis with a reserved time slot, the Acropolis Museum, 48 hours of hop-on hop-off bus and a dozen smaller museums. The catch: the days run consecutively from the start date you choose, and cancelling costs a fee.
You have a short list and no fixed dates? The Athens Flex Pass lets you choose two to seven sights and use them within 30 days. You pay only for your selection, but public transport is not on the list and the bus counts as one of your picks.
One or two days with a fixed plan? The Athens Pass bundles the Acropolis with audio guide, the museum and two days of bus at fixed time slots. It is booked once and cannot be refunded, so it suits a trip that will not change.
Long stay or several visits over a year? The Athens MegaPass runs for 365 days from the start date you choose, with each sight usable once, and its Explorer tier is the only Athens option with a public transport ticket built in. Against it: no cancellation, and you reserve every time slot yourself in the issuer's account.
When no pass is worth it: if the Acropolis is your only goal, buy the single timed-entry ticket. EU citizens under 25 enter the Acropolis and the state museums free anyway, and from November to March admission is free for everyone on the first and third Sunday of the month. Public transport is not part of any pass as standard, so plan that separately in most cases.

Is an Athens pass worth it at all?+
Only if you visit several paid sights. The Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum and a bus day already cost more than the entry-level passes in summer. For the Acropolis alone, the single ticket is cheaper, and EU citizens under 25 enter free.
Which Athens pass is the best?+
There is no best pass for everyone. The City Pass covers the most in consecutive days, the Flex Pass is for a short list on flexible dates, the Athens Pass for a fixed one-day plan. The comparison matches each pass to a trip.
Do I still need an Acropolis time slot with a pass?+
Yes. Entry to the Acropolis is timed for everyone. The City Pass and the Athens Pass settle the slot at purchase; with the Flex Pass and the MegaPass you reserve it yourself afterwards in the issuer's account. Security checks at the gate remain.
Is public transport included?+
Not as standard. The City Pass offers a transport ticket as an add-on and the MegaPass Explorer tier includes a 24-hour ticket; the other options leave it to you. The airport line is excluded everywhere. Details on the public transport page.
Can I cancel a pass?+
It depends on the issuer. Turbopass refunds the City Pass and Flex Pass minus a fee as long as nothing has been used. The Athens Pass from Tiqets and the MegaPass from Headout are sold without cancellation. The exact terms are on each pass page.
